sweet vanilla

Sometimes things don't work out as you hope they would. Lately I've been frogging two (and a half) almost finished sweaters - I just didn't like them enough. I know it happens, but it feels kind of sad too. At least when you've felt the it's-not-so-good-as-you-think somewhere deep in your mind for many days, but still went on with the project. How to know when it's the right time to let go?

After that I needed some easy and happy to cheer me up. Oh, that so worked out. Lightweight merino, plain Stockinette and yet something to keep me interested. Turned out quite romantic and sweet. And comfy. The tunic was supposed to be for a friend, but I'm having some serious doubts about that now. I love to wear this thing.

Celery Cardigan

I'm happy to introduce my best friend, who kindly modelled my newest pattern - and the pattern itself!

This light and soft little cardigan is knitted easily in one piece from top down. The classic Stockinette stitch is paired with wavering garter stitch borders giving the cardigan its unique shape that makes it interesting.

 
Sizes: x-s, s, m, l, x-l
Finished bust circumference: 30 (34, 37, 41, 44)”/ 76 (85, 94, 104, 111) cm
Yarn: 820 - 1203 yards (750 - 1100 m) of Malabrigo Sock or other light fingering/ 3 ply yarn.
Gauge: 25 sts and 32 rows in 4" (in Stockinette stitch)

buckwheat

Yellow, it's all about different shades of yellow now. This ochre (or buckwheat) yellow is so beautiful.

After all the cardigans I've knitted this year, I wanted one simple pullover. Simple and wearable and fun. Lots of stockinette, which I love and fun short rows for the neckline shaping. I've always loved the boat necks - with the two buttons for closure this is surely one of the best!

turmeric

It's almost too hot to knit, but I can't help myself. Every now and then I pick up needles and knit a few stitches. And when the evening comes and sun goes down temperature gets a bit more reasonable - perfect time for knitting.

This "one button wonder" is all about the yarn and the one big button. Oh, I love both so much! I kept the design simple and wearable - and loose enough for this extremely hot summer we're having.

3/4 hap shawl

It might be a bit too hot for knitting, but the evening will come and the temperature will get bearable again. Then you can pick up some needles and cast on for this fun shawl.

The design is based on the traditional Shetland hap shawl, but it’s only a 3/4 of a square – hence the name, 3/4 hap shawl. Knitted with two skeins of sock yarn, it’s a great pattern for many different color variations.

Finished size: 90 cm/35.5” long at all 3 sides and 120 cm/51” wide.
Yarn: two skeins of sock yarn, approx. 330 meters/ 360 yards of both.
Gauge: 24 stitches and 36 rows in 10 cm/4 inches (in garter stitch)
The gauge isn't crucial on this project, but differences will affect the finished size.

Celery

Green is the color! Here, there and on my needles. Hard to believe that there once was a time when I disliked color green... I guess times change.


Great little summer cardi to have around in case of cold breezes or long nights out. The yarn is just lovely, I love it even more than after the 3/4 hap shawl. It's light and soft and almost shiny. And paired with garter stitch - yummy.

Oh, more shawls! I'm so thrilled to have this one ready. It's so much fun. The design is based on the traditional Shetland hap shawl, but it's only a 3/4 of an square - so 3/4 hap shawl.


Lovely yarns and wonderful summery colors. The Malabrigo Sock is just unbelievably soft to have around your neck! I don't even know which side I like best, but it makes me feel like I have two different new shawls. Yay.
