knitting together and gathering stripes

You know, I love knitting (no surprise there). But knitting is even better when you are knitting together. And especially great when knitting together with a small child.

My older son has just learned to knit and he's so proud of this new skill. And he loves it too! He has knit many, many worms (takes 10 stitches and three rows - and it's ready!) and a some other small things. This scarf is the first thing we made together - every now and then he asked if he could knit a row or two and I passed the needles to him. How sweet is that!

I'm sure there's no scarf I would love more.

Then I have a new pattern for you and your little ones -

Gathering Stripes

This easy to wear sweater is worked from the top down in one piece. It’s knitted loosely for light weight, yet the big cowl-neck adds some warmth and texture to the piece.

Finished chest circumference: 23¼ (25¼, 27¼, 28½, 30¼, 32)” [58 (63, 68, 72, 76, 80) cm]

The sweater is just beautiful, but it is the scarf that steals my heart. So lovely!! You and your boy did a fantastic job. Obviously knitting talent runs in the family. And I must say I think the colour combination is amazing.

I could never get my daughter to sit still & focus long enough to knit with me :( However, I have 3 grandchildren so there's still hope!

I want to knit that sweater in my size!! (adult small).... Any luck on a pattern for an adult? or Will I have to make some modifications on my own?? ;) Either way, I am defiantly in love!

Can I second the request for the sweater pattern in an adult size?! Your son looks gorgeous in it and it's great to hear he's taking after you in the knitting department!

Aww, I just love that swater! Such a great design! It almost makes me wish I had children. Maybe I'll just knit it as a gift to someone else. :)

Hi Veera, I agree it is a beautiful jumper. I have a question about the scarf though: how did you manage to hide the colour change? I'm doing a stripey scarf at the moment and I'm not very happy with how it looks at the back, and I was wondering which is the best technique? I've looked on the web for the best solution but I haven't found one. Obvisouly in a jumper it doesn't matter, but with a scarf it's difficult to keep the "right side" facing and you end up with bits of wool sticking out... Many thanks for your help

Suloinen neulepaita! Yritin ostaa kaavaa mutta en onnistunut sillä en omaa yhtään noista luottokorteista (ei ne kotiäideille sellaisia suo).
