Spring is coming. It must be the warm sun and singing birds, the sound of snow starting to melt. Season is changing and i found myself longing for change too. So i decided to knit myself a shawl - a project which I've never done before. (Baby steps, nothing too radical.)
Pattern: Textured Shawl Recipe by orlane (Ravelry-link)
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Venezia Worsted
Needles: 6 mm
This yarn is so soft and slightly shiny. It was fun to work with, though with metallic needles it was a bit slippery. The pattern (or recipe) was easy to follow and i love the texture (it really is what is says). I think i would like to knit a bigger one some day.

What a great pattern! I love my finished cardigan, especially i love this purple color and it's unbelievably warm. I think this will be my everyday cardigan from now on. And i'm seriously thinking about casting on yet another...
Only i could have done a few more increases on the yoke, since this is a bit tight. (How small do i think i am?) But i don't mind the tightness, i still love it!

What to knit for special little ones? Something warm and thick, playful yet simple, sweet and traditional. Something like this Backwards Cardigan.
I started playing with the idea of cardigan turned around and this is the result. After finishing, i feel that the playfulness, which was on top of my head all the time while knitting, has stepped aside and there is something more conventional and traditional in it. I don't mind, i love it.
Pattern: my own
Yarn: Cascade 220 wool
I really liked working with Cascade yarn (this time too) and i love this dark and warm and full shade of brown. It only took 2 skeins to finish - and still i have a bit left. I chose wooden buttons, i had darker ones in mind but since i couldn't find any, i chose these. They are perfect.

For all the gray weather and gray knitting i needed some color. After finding this simple and sweet pattern, i simply had to cast on! I'm so glad i did.
Pattern: Garter Stitch Swingy Sweater by Jenn Pellerin
Yarn: Cascade 220
Needles: 5,0 mm
I love garter stitch, so it's not a big surprise that i loved this pattern as well. Yarn was just perfect, i love this warm orange color, and the wool itself was really soft. (For some reason i have had this idea, that it might be a bit rough.) Too bad the cardigan turned out too small, i have no idea why since i tried it on several times during knitting. My gentle blocking didn't help much, so maybe i should try again. But all in all, nice cardigan for spring!
